Maldives: Surfing the Southern Atolls
Beautifully remote, yet easily accessible by plane and boat from Malé, Six Senses Laamu is the only resort in the Laamu Atoll, deep in the Indian Ocean. Just an inter-island plane trip from Malé International Airport and a short boat ride brings you to a place where you have barefoot luxury escapism, world class surfing and several breaks accessible by less than 30 min boat ride from the resort. Within the view from the resort the mighty Yin Yangs stands out and on its day, deliver one of the most powerful and perfect right-hand barrels in the country. |
We usually prefer the beach villas to water villas. There is always something special about being on the beach, feel the sand on your feet. The turquoise lagoon is literally twenty steps away and the lush greens offer perfect sanctuary from the scorching sun. |
What to wear
|
Bikes are the best way to get around the island. Of course you can also walk anywhere barefoot. |
Beach villas also come with an amazing viewing deck for sundowners. |
As always, Tropicsurf has the best spot on the beach. |
The pool is conveniently located next to the surf shack and has a dreamy pool bar where you can enjoy a fresh coconut after a surf session. |
There are many restaurants and open buffets on the island. Edible memories at each venue are enhanced by enchanting tropical vistas. We recommend that you try them all. One of our favorites "Leaf" is perched above the organic garden, the chefs work with Maldivian fishermen and farmers to source local ingredients for our inventive dishes. |
